IntegradePro Tip: TypeSets
Where did the word
“Humanities” come from on InTouch?
“Humanities,” “Elementary,” and “Science” are the default Type Sets in IGPro. And the title of your Type Set in IGPro is seen by parents in InTouch. This is true whether you are set up to use “total points” or “weighted type” as your calculation method.
If you teach an AP course and your Type Set is called “Elementary,” or if you teach science or math, and your Type Set is called “Humanities,” parents are likely to be confused by what they see in InTouch.
What SHOULD your Type
Set(s) be called?
For their academic classes, many teachers are computing grades using Total Points, or if they use the Weighted Average method, they weight tests, homework etc., the same way in all their classes. If that is true for you, then you only need one Type Set. Delete the other Type Sets (instructions below) and give the one you are using a generic name. It could be anything: a number, a Roman numeral, “LHS,” the word “Generic” or even "N/A." For the sake of consistency, perhaps “LHS” is a good choice unless you need to differentiate between classes. The shorter the Type Set name, the less room that column in InTouch will take up!
If, on the other hand, you have classes where you weight grades differently, you do need more than one Typeset. Make sure all the Type Set names you use will make sense to parents as well as to you. Also, for EACH CLASS you will need to select the Typeset to be used (instructions below).
To rename a Type Set:
Choose Grading Rules from the Setup menu and click the “Grading Table” tab. One of the boxes in the chart will be selected. Your current Type Set is the title of that column.
To change its name, hit “Rename Set” on the right side. Go to Setup—Classes, choose each class in turn, and use the pull-down menu to choose the Task Type Set.
