IntegradePro Tip: Naming your Tasks

Aack! I hate the way IGPro abbreviates my assignments!

When you enter an assignment (IGPro calls it a Task), the software shortens the name of the assignment to make it fit in the column header.  First, let me assure you that what you see in the column header, however, is NOT what parents see in InTouch.  The entire text of your Task Name shows up from InTouch.

But, if you have trouble distinguishing one assignment from another using the software-generated abbreviations in IGPro, you can tell it what you want to see.  Say, for example, you put in this assignment: “p. 40, 2 a-c; pp. 46-47 even” and IG Pro abbreviates it like this:

Yuck!

Maybe something like this would be more understandable when you’re looking at your gradebook:

To create an understandable title,

      1.            From the Tasks menu, select “Edit Tasks.”

      2.            On the “General” tab, you will see the Task Name and beneath it, the words “Short Name.” Check the box marked “Custom.”

      3.            Put your cursor in the box next to the word “Custom” and enter up to ten characters there, plus ten more characters in the box below that. Close the box and you’re done!
