Priorities

Swimmers are expected to give 100% during our season. Priorities should be 1) Performing successfully academically; 2) Performing in the pool at their highest possible level; and 3) Character development (responsibility, commitment, teamwork, dedication).

School Attendance

Swimmers must be in school the entire day of a meet and the day before a Saturday meet.

ISS-Swimmer will still practice and be able to participate in a meet unless ISS occurs on the day of a meet, in which case it will result in an unexcused absence.

State Rules

NO SMOKING, CHEWING TOBACCO, DRINKING OR USE OF ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES-Any of the above will be referred to the office plus rules of the handbook will be enforced. Jewelry may not be worn in the pool except sports watches. No jewelry may be worn during a swim meet.

Eligibility

Swimmers must meet the school eligibility requirements every week! That means they must be passing 5 credit hours to compete. If a swimmer is failing a class the coach reserves the right to keep him or her out of meets until a passing grade is achieved!!!

Image

LHS is proud of our team at all times. Swimmers must try in every way possible to be good role models for teammates as well as other schools!!

Lettering

The following criteria will be used to determine who letters:

1. Attendance at all meets unless excused*
2. Attendance at all practice sessions unless excused*
3. Attitude
4. Leadership
5. Team Spirit
6. Improvement of times

There is a direct correlation between consistent practice, hard work and improvement. These factors, along with a commitment to do right, a commitment to do your best, and a commitment to treat others the way you want to be treated will determine whether or not an individual has earned the right to swim in a meet and letter.

Team Goals

1. Win our home meets!
2. Place in top half at Sunflower League!!
3. Qualify a record number to state!!!

*Excused absence consists of a school activity, sickness or other activity cleared by the coaches. Work is not an excused absence.
